(M0) at the level of QR 72.1 billion at the end of December 2019<\/p>\n<p>Qatar Central Bank (QCB) data released on Tuesday indicated that the total Reserve Money (M0) in the banking system at the end of December increased by about QR 1.8 billion above November, to reach QR 72.1 billion, compared to QR 82.87 billion in December 2018, and QR 62.77 billion in December 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The Reserve Money consists of four components:<\/p>\n<p>Issued Currency, Required Reserves, Excess Money, and Others.<\/p>\n<p>Issued Currency, at any time, is the total amount of currency issued by the QCB up to that time in Qatari Riyals.<\/p>\n<p>Required Reserve is 4.50% of the total amount of the customer deposits with  the Commercial Banks operating in Qatar.<\/p>\n<p>Excess Reserve is the unused surplus with local banks at any time, and banks deposit them with QCB optionally in order to cover the clearing operations between them.<\/p>\n<p>In Details, the increase in the Reserve Money   in November has come from changes in its various components, as follows:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022The Issued Currency increased QR 115 million from November to QR16.4 billion, compared to QR 16.29 billion last November and QR16.2 billion a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The Required Reserve made up more than half of the Reserve Money, and it rose in December by about QR 47 Million from October to reach QR 37.45 billion, compared to QR 37.4 billion in November, and QR 36 billion a year ago.
